Have you been to Tim Ho Wan Manila?
Even before it opened its first restaurant here in Manila, my husband had been telling me about Tim Ho Wan every time we passed by at the restaurants' still under construction space at SM Mega Fashion Hall. Two days after it opened last May 20, 2014, we were very lucky to get a table after queueing for about 30 minutes, at this affordable Michelin starred restaurant.
While waiting in line, we were given a menu and an order slip to fill out which I think makes it a lot easier and faster for both the customers and the restaurant crews. We can't decide what to order since it's our first time to eat here.
We noticed that almost every diners' table had these delicious looking buns called Baked Bun with BBQ Pork, which by the way is one of the Big 4 Heavenly Kings, so we decided to give it a try, and it was real HEAVENLY!.. it had me at the first bite. The pork filling (just like the siopao asado) was just right and the bun was so delicious!, a perfect combination of savory and sweet. It was a bit crispy and yet it melts in your mouth once you had a bite, clearly, it's the "star" of all the dishes. It was a mistake that we only had one order, when we decided to get another one, these heavenly buns arrived 15 minutes later, but it's worth the wait.
We also tried the Pork Rib with Black Bean Sauce and Pork Dumpling with Shrimp which are equally delicious. The servings are a bit small but just enough to fill your hungry tummy and because the cost per order is very affordable, you can try almost everything on the menu without emptying your wallet.
For dessert and beverages, we had a Cold Barley Water and Mango Pomelo Sago, which is both very refreshing. I never had Mango Pomelo combined as a dessert, so it surprises me that it tastes really good and I felt like it cleanses my palate especially after eating all these mouth watering dishes.
My hubby and I really enjoyed eating for the first time at Tim Ho Wan, that after 2 days we went back there again and ordered some of the dishes that we haven't tried...
Wasabi Salad Prawn Dumplings P140.00 |
Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf (Machang) P190.00 |
Spinach Dumpling with Shrimp P120.00 |
plus three orders of our favorite Baked Bun with BBQ Pork P145.00/3 pcs. per order and a takeout.
With the crowd getting bigger and the long queue still happening at Tim Ho Wan, I can't wait to dine again for the third time!
